Zuffa move has come at 'perfect time' for Cutler

Boxer Lee Cutler believes his move to sign with Zuffa Boxing came at the “perfect time” in his career.

The 30-year-old middleweight from Poole agreed a deal with Dana White’s company in May and then, in Bournemouth, beat Aaron Sutton in Zuffa’s first UK show.

On Saturday night, Cutler secured his second win since joining the promotion, cruising to a points victory over Louis Greene at London’s Copperbox Arena.

With recent years broken up due to inactivity, he last fought twice in a year back in 2023 under his previous promoter Boxxer which is fronted up by Ben Shalom.

Having been in action twice in the past four months, ‘Chaos’ is relishing being a part of the new company, who are looking to make their mark on the British fight scene.

“The Zuffa move has come for a perfect time for me,” Cutler told BBC Sport.

“They’re great for boxing and great for people like me, they’re giving me activity and that’s all I’ve wanted.

“I haven’t had that over the last couple of years which has been very frustrating and demoralising at times, but I’m in a great space now.

“It’s just more opportunities for me and coming off the back of winning at the weekend, hopefully that sets me up in some big fights coming up.”

Cutler has won 17 of his professional fights and suffered just two defeats, the most recent loss coming in 2025 when he was controversially beaten by Sam Eggington.

He joined Zuffa alongside fellow Bournemouth boxer and close friend Chris Billam-Smith earlier this year.

The pair have featured on the same show on multiple occasions in recent years, both fighting in 2023 at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium, and several times at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Billam-Smith has previously highlighted the “fighter first” approach that Zuffa have provided on fight week, and Cutler was quick to back this up.

“I’ve worked with a couple of promotions now over the years, and they [Zuffa] are just second to none in terms of how they look after the fighter,” he added.

“They set your meals out, do your nutrition and are messaging you every day asking for your weights so they can calculate how you rehydrate, it’s madness how they look after the fighter.

“They treat the A side just as good as they do the B side – I spoke to Louis (Greene) and he was saying that it’s just amazing how they’ve been treating him and how they treat all the fighters.”
