UFC 319 will emanate from the United Center. The main event will see Dricus du Plessis defend the UFC middleweight title against Khamzat Chimaev.
The first South African to become UFC champion, du Plessis (23-2) won the belt against Sean Strickland. The multi-time kickboxing champion has won eleven straight fights and has been a problem for some of the best at middleweight. du Plessis can adapt to any situation and has won nine fights via knockout and eleven via submission.

“Khamzat Chimaev is going to take me down, but he has to keep me there. We’ve seen him dominate in the first round. Let’s see how he feels in round two, then it’s my fight,” du Plessis told Shak MMA via Verdict MMA.
The fight is a long time coming for Chimaev (14-0), one of the most dangerous fighters competing today. The Chechen blew minds in 2020 due to his aggressive style. He had a rocket ship on his back early on. However, health issues following a COVID-19 infection affected his career.
When he is 100%, there’s no stopping him. That was proven against Kevin Holland, Kamaru Usman, and against former champion Robert Whittaker in October. Now, “Borz” is ready to “smash” his way to glory.
