Lavar Scott, 21, currently competes full-time in the ARCA Menard’s Series. While he’s yet to win, he ended 2024 as the championship runner-up and currently sits third in points, just 17 points out of the lead.
But on Tuesday, Alpha Prime Racing announced that Scott will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with the team later this month at Dover. He will pilot the No. 45 Chevrolet with backing from Foxxtecca.
The New Jersey-born driver is also expected to compete at Gateway earlier this year on September 6th, but Dover will be his first start in any of the three national levels of NASCAR.
“Let’s go Xfinity racing,” said Scott in a statement he posted on social media. “So happy to finally announce this. This is been something I have been working on and trying to achieve for a very long time. Can’t wait to make my debut at Monster Mile!”
In ARCA, Scott drives the No. 6 Chevrolet for Rev Racing. He has been very consistent with 21 top fives and 29 top tens in 35 career starts, leading 186 laps. While he’s yet to reach Victory Lane in ARCA, Scott has two runner-up finishes at Berlin Raceway and Elko Speedway.
Alpha Prime Racing has utilized a variety of drivers in its No. 45 car this year including Mason Massey, Brad Perez, Caesar Bacarella, and Vicente Salas. The car’s best result came in the season-opener at Daytona where Bacarella finished 13th. They also run the No. 44 car with Brennan Poole as the full-time driver.
