Inter Milan could move to sign Twente midfielder Sem Steijn if a midfielder leaves during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Earlier this week, a report emerged that Inter Milan are tracking Twente midfielder Sem Steijn.

The 23-year-old is the top scorer in the Eredivisie this season, with 22 goals so far. This has naturally led to a fair bit of transfer attention.

Feyenoord have already made an offer for Steijn. However, there is also transfer interest from Serie A.

Both Inter Milan and Roma have reportedly made inquiries about signing the Dutchman.

And according to Tuttosport, Steijn could fit into Inter’s transfer strategy of revitalizing the squad with young signings.

The Nerazzurri have already made one notable midfield signing for the summer. They have secured Petar Sucic, who will join from Dinamo Zagreb at the end of this season.

Sucic looks to be a player who Inter have earmarked as a backup and eventual heir to Hakan Calhanoglu. Kristjan Asllani could therefore head for the exit door.

And according to Tuttosport, it could be something similar with Sem Steijn.

The newspaper note that Davide Frattesi could certainly leave Inter this summer. The 25-year-old’s future is up in the air, as he is still not a regular starter for the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, if Frattesi were to leave, then Steijn could be a profile to take the Italian international’s place in the Inter squad.
