The stage for the state golf tournament is set with several Corpus Christi and Coastal Bend athletes qualifying for the pinnacle of high school golf.
The UIL girls state tournament is scheduled for April 28-29 and the boys will tee off May 5-6.
The TAPPS Class 4A state golf championship is slated for April 28-29 at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose.
Here is a list of the state qualifiers.
GIRLS
Class 4A
Hannah Creekmore, Rockport-Fulton
Creekmore will tee off at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland after placing in the top four at the Region IV-4A tournament. Creekmore carded a two-day score of 145 to return to state for the fourth consecutive season.
Class 3A
Ava Villegas, Julianna Jimenez, Charly Renteria, Payton Freeman and Erin Srp, London
The London girls captured their third consecutive regional title with Villegas defending her regional title with a two day total of 174. Villegas held off teammate Charly Renteria in a playoff for the individual title. Renteria also fired a two day total of 174. The UIL Class 3A state tournament will be held at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin.
TAPPS
Cali Rowland, Brielle Vasquez, Sarah Cory, Abbey Sachanowicz and Bella Taylor, IWA
Rowland placed third overall and Vasquez took fifth at the TAPPS 4A South Regional to power the Angels to the state tournament in Glen Rose.
Eliana Galvan, John Paul II
Galvan will represent the Centurions after qualifying for the state tournament at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose.
BOYS
Class 5A
Broc Talamantez, Gregory-Portland
Talamantez continued to dominate the 5A playing field after capturing the Region IV-5A crown. Talamantez, a senior, shot 70 in the first round and a 77 on Day 2 to punch his ticket back to state. The Class 5A state tournament will be held at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.
Class 4A
Jace Compton, Caden Allen, Gage Hirschfield, Walker Arnold and Russell Lowe, Calallen
The young and talented Wildcat golf team will make its state tournament debut after turning in a two-day score of 609 to place second at the Region IV-4A tournament. Hirschfield led the Wildcats with a third place finish at the regional tournament. Mike Brotherton’s squad will tee off at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.
Dylon Everett and Sergio Ramirez, Kingsville
Ramirez will tee off in his state tournament after winning the District 31-4A title and qualifying at the Region IV-4A tournament. Ramirez will be joined by teammate Dylon Everett, who is no stranger to teeing off at state. Everett will be making his third trip to the state tournament at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.
Class 3A
Noah Gonzalez, Trace Renteria, Ty Wiseman, Jacob Barrera and Jackson Cannon, London
The London boys advance to state as the No. 2 seed and for the second consecutive season. The Pirates were led by sophomore Trace Renteria, who placed fifth overall with a total of 160 at regionals. The Class 3A UIL state tournament will be held at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin.
Class 2A
Leo Martinez, Hudson Harris, Trace Carroll, Cohen Guevara and Grant Shoemaker, Port Aransas
The Port Aransas boys are returning to state after placing second as a team at the Region IV-2A tournament.
TAPPS
Matthew Martinez, IWA
Martinez qualified for state as an individual after placing eighth overall at the TAPPS 4A south regional tournament.
