FC Barcelona are working to finalise multiple departures from the club before the end of the month and Ansu Fati is one such player who is expected to leave.
Things are progressing for the out-of-favour forward to join AS Monaco after a brief standstill in negotiations between the two clubs.
An agreement over the distribution of his salary remains the final hurdle which is likely to be reached soon.
In fact, reports suggest that the Ligue 1 club are already planning to arrange for Fati’s medicals this week.
Fati will extend contract by one year
Now, according to Que T’hi Jugues, Ansu Fati will extend his contract with Barcelona by one year before joining AS Monaco on a loan deal.
The 22-year-old La Masia forward’s current deal runs until 2027 but another year will be added to it prior to his move to Ligue 1.

This will be done to spread his salary across three years instead of two, which helps the club gain some room in terms of Fair Play margin.
Barcelona had followed a similar strategy with Clement Lenglet last summer before he left for Atletico Madrid on loan.
As for Ansu, the attacker is expected to join AS Monaco on a loan deal with an option for a permanent purchase worth only €11 million.
Meanwhile, the Blaugrana will retain a future buyback clause potentially worth €28 million.
Once regarded as the future of Barcelona, Ansu will hope to leave his injury woes behind and revive his career away from the spotlight and pressure.
Medicals are expected to take place in a few days so that he can begin pre-season with his new team on July 1.
