Scottie Scheffler received huge criticism for his actions on day one of The Memorial Tournament after he let loose on his caddie on the 16th hole.
Scheffler was struggling with his swing during round one of The Memorial, but he arrived on the par-three 16th tee at even-par.

However, things were about to take a turn for the worse.
Scottie Scheffler dumped his tee shot into the water on 16 on Thursday at The Memorial Tournament, and what followed was a really poor look for the world number one.
Scheffler embarked on a lengthy rant aimed at Ted Scott – one which lasted almost the entirety of the hole.

While things like that happen in elite-level sport, the 29-year-old came across as rather petulant.
The 20-time PGA Tour winner struggled once again on Friday, but finished with three birdies in his last six holes to force his way back inside the top 20.
However, according to one former Ryder Cup player, things were not quite right between Scheffler and his caddie.

‘Obvious atmosphere’ between Scottie Scheffler and Ted Scott
Firstly, it’s worth noting that Ted Scott previously caddied for Bubba Watson, so he has plenty of experience of being lambasted by his employer!
However, Scott did make it clear that Scheffler’s fiery attitude had to change before agreeing to caddie for him five years ago.
Scheffler has won 20 times on the PGA Tour, including four major championship victories, since Scott became his caddie.
The two share a fantastic relationship, for the most part. Thursday afternoon at Muirfield Village was one of the rare occasions when Scheffler took his frustrations out on Scott.

Former Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart does not believe that the hatchet was sufficiently buried after watching the world number one in action on day two of The Memorial.

The Scot took to his X account and said: “Anybody talking about the obvious atmosphere between Scheffler and Scott at The Memorial in round 2?“
Overreaction to Scottie Scheffler’s behavior at The Memorial
While Scheffler certainly did not cover himself in glory on Thursday at Muirfield Village, it does feel like there has been an overreaction to the incident on the 16th hole.
And the negative chatter carried on into Friday.
Some golf fans noticed that there was minimal interaction between the pair during the first six or seven holes of the second round, especially on the greens.
However, Scottie Scheffler only calls Ted Scott in to help him read certain putts where he’s not sure on the line.

Scheffler and his caddie engaged in plenty of chat during the world number one’s pre-shot routine throughout the second round, as they always do.
This feels to me like much ado about nothing. Scheffler and Scott share a very solid relationship.
Both are men of huge faith and it will take more than a slight disagreement on the golf course to cause any kind of friction between them.
