Fans looking forward to Floyd Mayweather’s first exhibition fight in nearly two years will have to wait a bit longer.
Mayweather’s representatives announced Thursday that a planned exhibition fight against Mike Zambidis in Greece on Saturday will not take place as scheduled, amid a legal battle over the bout.
Mayweather, who has planned fights against Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao to potentially take place as early as this year, was set to fight Zambidis in Athens as part of a return to boxing.
Here’s what you need to know about the fight’s postponement.

Why Floyd Mayweather fight vs. Mike Zambidis was called off
Mayweather and his legal team have been working to fend off a legal challenge from production company CSI Sports, which claims the legendary boxer’s fight with Zambidis violates the agreement he made with CSI for fights against Tyson and Pacquiao.
A ruling has yet to be made in the case, but Mayweather’s legal representatives said in a letter Thursday that the legal challenge has “effectively stopped any promotion and distribution plans” and “halted ticket sales.”

With just two days until the fight, Mayweather’s team is postponing it for the time being, with the possibility of the bout being rescheduled depending on what the court rules.
Mayweather has agreements in place to fight Tyson and Pacquiao at a later date, with the Tyson fight originally planned for this spring and the Pacquiao fight planned for the fall. Mayweather’s legal team told the court recently that the new, tentative dates are Sept. 26 for the Tyson fight and January 2027 for the Pacquiao rematch.
When is Floyd Mayweather’s next fight?
Whether Mayweather fights Zambidis remains to be seen. The boxer’s legal team left the door open for the bout to be rescheduled, but the timetable for when the court could rule in CSI Sports’ lawsuit is unclear.
If Mayweather doesn’t fight Zambidis, a proposed Sept. 26 exhibition fight against Tyson could be next on his schedule. That date hasn’t been finalized, so it’s still possible Mayweather’s schedule changes again.
Mayweather’s last fight was an exhibition match against John Gotti III in August 2024.
