Watch NASCAR racer Bubba Wallace talk about his first pitch at Tennessee baseball game, Bristol Motor Speedway and Knoxville
- Several top NASCAR drivers are experiencing long winless streaks.
- Justin Haley currently holds the longest winless streak at 148 races.
- Despite the winless streak, Kyle Busch has the most Cup victories among active drivers.
Some of the biggest names in NASCAR Cup racing have gone through long stretches without ending up in victory lane.
Denny Hamlin, the second-winningest active Cup Series driver, snapped a streak of 31 winless races last week by winning at Martinsville. That leaves it up to several other notable drivers in the series to step up and end their skids.
Here’s a look at some of the drivers with the longest winless streaks heading into Sunday’s race at Darlington Raceway (2 p.m. CT, FS1).
Justin Haley 148
Haley’s last victory came on July 7, 2019, at Daytona International Speedway when he was still a parttime Cup Series driver. It was only his third start. The Spire Motorsports driver’s best finish this season was 10th at Miami on March 23.
Cole Custer 104
Custer is the only other driver along with Haley with at least a 100-race winless streak. The driver of the No. 41 Mustang last won at Kentucky Speedway July 12, 2020. Custer was demoted to the Xfinity Series where he won a series championship in 2023 and the regular season championship in 2024. He’s back in the Cup Series this season with Haas Factory Team, but hasn’t finished in the top 20.
Bubba Wallace 86
Wallace has come close to winning by finishing third in the last two races and in the top-5 12 times last season, but hasn’t been in victory lane since winning at Kansas Superspeedway on Sept. 11, 2022. Wallace was in the mix again in 2022 posting a seventh place finish four weeks later at Charlotte Road Course and eighth two weeks after that at Martinsville. Wallace’s only other Cup victory came in 2021 at Talladega.
Erik Jones 86
Jones is tied with Wallace with 86 straight winless races and his last victory also came in 2022 at Darlington Raceway on Sept. 4. The driver of the No. 43 Toyota Camry for Legacy Motor Club has three career Cup Series wins. He was 12th this season in the Daytona 500 and 15th at Miami.
Kyle Busch 64
Busch’s 63 Cup victories are the most among active drivers and ninth all-time, but he hasn’t won since June 4, 2023, at World Wide Technology Raceway. The two-time Cup Series champion’s best finish this season was fifth at Circuit of the Americas.
Michael McDowell 55
McDowell started strong this season with back-to-back 11th-place finishes in the Daytona 500 and at Circuit of Americas and was 12th last week at Martinsville, but has not won since Aug. 13, 2023, at the Indy Road Course. McDowell is currently 16th in the Cup Series point standings.
Daniel Suarez 41
Suarez was second at Las Vegas on March 16 in a race in which he led for 12 laps, but has not won since Feb. 25, 2024, at Atlanta Motor Speedway. That was the second win for the Trackhouse Racing driver after his first came in 2022 at Sonoma. Suarez had three other top-5 finishes in 2024.
Chase Elliott 34
The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series most popular driver has 19 career wins, but his last was on April 14, 2024, at Texas Motor Speedway. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has four top-10 finishes this season including fourth last week at Martinsville after leading 42 laps and fourth at Circuit of Americas.
Brad Keselowski 30
Keselowski ended a 110-winless streak on May 12, 2024, when he won at Darlington Raceway. The RFK Racing driver had five top-10 victories after that in 2024, but has struggled this season with no top-10s.
