Rodriguez (22-0) initially held gold at 115 before focusing on the flyweight division. “Bam” won more gold and returned to super flyweight, taking out Juan Francisco Estrada, Phumelela Cafu, and Fernando Daniel Martinez to unify the division.
“Bam” is interested in fighting Naoya Inoue. First, he must add more gold to his waist before taking on the ultimate challenge.
“New weight class, same goals – dominate and pick up all the belts,” Rodriguez said via ESPN. “On June 13, I look forward to becoming a three-division World Champion.”
A Pan American Games gold medalist, Vargas (19-1-1) won the interim title in 2024. He fought Daigo Higa to a draw last July and has eleven wins via knockout.
