Quick Slant: Week 4 Volusia-Flagler high school football games preview
The Florida high school football season has reached Week 4. The biggest game in the Volusia-Flagler area this Friday: Mainland vs. Spruce Creek.
Entries are still being accepted for the 2025 Volusia County Amateur Golf Championship, scheduled for Oct. 4-5 (Saturday-Sunday) at Venetian Bay in New Smyrna Beach.
Volusia’s County Am, which dates back to 1992, still features three divisions: Championship Division for all ages, seniors (55 and up) and super seniors (65 and up). It’s a 36-hole, stroke-play championship.
Tee times begin each day at 8 a.m., with lunch and awards following Sunday’s play.
Cost is $150 per player, with an option of entering each day’s skins game for $10 each round. Practice rounds, from Oct. 1-3, are available for $35.
The Championship Division winner’s name goes on the the perpetual championship cup, the Ralph Pool Memorial Trophy.
