Conor McGregor secured the majority of the headlines coming out of UFC 329 after suffering a knee injury in his main event loss to Max Holloway. But it was another foreign fighter who deserved headlines for his actual performance inside the Octagon.

Paddy Pimblett bounced back in a major way with a quick submission victory over Benoit Saint Denis. An underdog entering the fight, Pimblett locked in a Peruvian necktie less than a minute into the lightweight co-main event.

When it was all said and done, the 31-year-old from Liverpool, England, improved to 24-4 and got back in the win column following a January 2026 loss to Justin Gaethje via decision at UFC 324.

Pimblett is now 10-1 over his last 11, with five of those wins coming by way of submission.

“Sub of the year, (expletive!),” Pimblett said in the post-fight interview. “I knew he was out. I’m like a (expletive) spider. When I get hold of you, you don’t get out. What now? Am I finished? Who wants it next?”

Paddy Pimblett calls for Conor McGregor fight

Pimblett made the most of his time inside the Octagon after his win, even calling out McGregor just moments before “Notorious” returned to action and fell to Max Holloway.

Over the years, Pimblett and McGregor have exchanged words with one another. Like McGregor, Pimblett is a former Cage Warriors champion, holding the featherweight belt once.

Pimblett picked up an additional $100,000 with his finish, earning “Performance of the Night” honors. He has earned that honor six times in his career and shared “Fight of the Night” with Gaethje.
