New Jersey will host two massive bantamweight title fights when UFC 316 heads to the Prudential Center on June 7.
The main event will see a rematch between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley for the UFC bantamweight title.
When the two fought at The Sphere in September, Dvalishvili (19-4) landed six takedowns and 82 significant strikes. “The Machine” was relentless, though O’Malley (18-2, 1 NC) landed a few shots that cut the face of the Georgian. There was tension throughout, from Dvalishvili arguing with O’Malley’s coach to the now-champion kissing O’Malley’s back while holding onto him by the cage.
Dvalishvili has since defended the title against Umar Nurmagomedov, winning his 12th straight contest. Meanwhile, O’Malley hasn’t seen any action, resting up from an injury he suffered before the fight. O’Malley believes in his heart he won the fight and looks to prove he can beat Dvalishvili when 100%.

The co-main event will see Julianna Pena defend the UFC bantamweight title against Kayla Harrison. Winner of The Ultimate Fighter 18, Pena (12-5) shocked the world when she beat Amanda Nunees in 2021 to win gold. She lost the title against Nunes in a rematch and, two years later, beat Raquel Pennington to reclaim the belt.
Competing for the first time since October, Pennington faces Harrison (18-1), a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Harrison dominated while with the PFL and is 2-0 in the UFC. The judo expert’s last fight was a decision win in October against Ketlen Vieira.
Pennington looks to continue her reign, while Harrison looks to enhance her legacy by holding UFC gold.
