Titleist Eliminates Need for This Commonly Used Gadget with New Golf Ball Release originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to using an alignment aid on the golf ball while putting. Some players find using a line on their ball helps them align their putter and get the ball started on their intended line.

Others find using the line on the golf ball distracting and prefer to use the alignment aids on their putter or simply line up by feel.

For those that prefer using an alignment aid on the golf ball, a common way to get a line on the ball is to clamp a plastic stencil around the golf ball and trace a straight line using a Sharpie. But that may be a thing of the past as Titleist has released new golf balls engineered with a performance enhancing feature called AIM.

AIM stands for Alignment Integrated Marking and its purpose is to help players better align their golf ball by providing various designs of alignment aids printed directly on the golf ball.

This new technology is more than just decoration, it is actually backed by science. The Titleist R&D team conducted a series of tests, asking players to align a current stock ProV1 to a target at various lengths, and then align to the same targets using the new AIM designs.

According to the Titleist R&D team, "The findings were undeniable. The results of the test showed that players using AIM are up to 35% more precise in aligning their putts."

AIM comes in four designs, PRO V1 AIM ENHANCED, PRO V1 AIM PERFORMANCE, AVX AIM 360°, TOUR SOFT AIM 360° and is available in multiple colors on Pro V1, Pro V1x, Pro V1x Left Dash, Tour Soft and AVX golf balls.
