Through two years of the Chicago Street race, rain tires have been a necessity both times.

This year’s needed accessory will be air conditioning.

Oh, and maybe rain tires again, depending on a dicey Sunday afternoon forecast.

One full weekend of cooperative weather would be nice. You could even call it a parting gift if you like. That’s right, this is looking like it’ll be the final Chicago Street Race — the third installment of NASCAR’s original three-year contract with the city.

No one is saying it out loud, but you know what else they’re not saying? Oh yeah, we’re definitely coming back next year. It’s more like, let’s talk about this later.

Anyway, it’s a different type of racing — like a road course but without much room for error. Completely different backdrops, of course, since major metropolitan areas aren’t usually seen just beyond Turn 2. So it’s worth a watch, and here’s how to do that.

Saturday: Downtown Chicago gets a NASCAR wakeup call

10:30 a.m.: Xfinity Series practice and qualifying (CW app).

1 p.m.: Cup Series practice (Tru TV).

2 p.m.: Cup Series qualifying (Tru TV).

4:30 p.m.: Xfinity Series, The Loop 110 (CW).

Sunday: Week 2 for NASCAR on TNT

2 p.m.: Cup Series, Grant Park 165 (TNT).
