Bryson DeChambeau left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in June 2022.

It’s fair to say that DeChambeau is the only golfer who has actually improved since he made the move to LIV Golf.

It is also very fair to argue that the PGA Tour has gone from strength to strength since the 32-year-old left them four years ago.

However, it cannot be denied that Bryson DeChambeau is one of the biggest stars in the professional game.

And there is a real case to be made that the PGA Tour need the man from Dallas, Texas, back amongst their ranks as soon as possible.

Interestingly, it was recently claimed that DeChambeau made contact with PGA Tour officials at Augusta National during Masters week to discuss a potential route back from LIV Golf.

However, DeChambeau has insisted that he is 100 per cent committed to LIV Golf, despite the fact that his contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

Only time will tell where the two-time US Open champion’s future actually lies. However, the PGA Tour should be doing everything in their power to bring him back.

The PGA Tour need Bryson DeChambeau after Cadillac Championship issues

It would have been impossible for Brian Rolapp not to be concerned after watching the Cadillac Championship.

Cam Young won by six shots after playing some spectacular golf all week at Trump National Doral, while Scottie Scheffler ended up in second place.

In spite of the high quality golf on display, the tournament just felt completely flat.

There were multiple reasons for that, including the high ticket prices, the inclement weather on Sunday and the fact that the tournament was hosted by the highly divisive Donald Trump at his Blue Monster golf course.

However the main issue, in my opinion, is that the PGA Tour is really lacking enough star power right now.

As good as Scheffler and Young are, they just don’t have that X-factor when it comes to getting golf fans excited.

Their games certainly aren’t boring. Young and Scheffler are quite obviously exceptional golfers but they are two extremely stoic characters.

Extracting insightful answers out of the two American players is like getting blood out of a stone at times.

The same can be said for the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood – all excellent players with very little charisma, both on and off the golf course.

Bryson DeChambeau would add much-needed star power to the PGA Tour

There is nothing wrong with players being more reserved, of course. That is who they are, and that approach obviously helps them perform to the best of their abilities.

However, it’s always nice to have some stardust sprinkled onto the biggest events by electric players who get fans up off their seats.

The PGA Tour could do with someone who interacts with the crowds more, someone who doesn’t just give run-of-the-mill answers in press conferences.

DeChambeau is the perfect character to play that role. Patrick Reed is as well in all fairness, and he should be back on the PGA Tour before 2026 is out.

The 32-year-old LIV star is the longest hitter in the game and he’s never afraid to speak his mind when talking to the media.

Gone are the days of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The standard of the players on the PGA Tour may be higher than it has ever been before right now.

However, it just feels like something is missing, and Bryson DeChambeau could well be the solution for the PGA Tour in that regard.

The Cadillac Championship generated little interest from fans throughout the entire week, and more star power would obviously help with that problem.
