Scottie Scheffler Earns New Nickname After 16th PGA Tour Win originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Scottie Scheffler continues his victorious run on the PGA Tour. This time, the 28-year-old claimed another win at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Scheffler shot a final-round 2-under to finish at 10-under for the tournament, winning by four strokes. His consistency was key, posting three rounds of 70 (Thursday, Friday, and Sunday), and a clutch 68 on Saturday.
Ben Griffin finished second at 6-under, while Sepp Straka and Nick Taylor took third and fourth. Russell Henley and Maverick McNealy shared fifth place.
It marked Scheffler’s third PGA Tour win of the season and his second straight victory at the Memorial Tournament. It was his 16th career win.
Now, Scheffler shifts focus to the next major: the U.S. Open, which tees off June 12. The final two majors of the year are all that stand between him and a career grand slam.
After the win, the PGA Tour had a new nickname for the star:
“Scottie Scheffler’s Wikipedia has been updated.”

That quote floated around social media, and rightfully so. Scheffler, often called “Himothy”, a nod to being “HIM” in sports slang, is living up to the hype.
Currently the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler has held that spot for over 100 weeks. He was named Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year in 2019 and PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2020.
Just last season, Scheffler won the Tour Championship by four strokes to cap off a dominant year. He picked up seven titles, including his second Players Championship and second Masters win. He also secured wins at the Travelers Championship and RBC Heritage.
Up next on the PGA Tour is the RBC Canadian Open at the North Course. After that, the world’s top golfers head to Oakmont Country Club for the U.S. Open. The Open Championship follows shortly after, running July 17–20.
