Kai Trump, a rising senior at the Benjamin School and the eldest grandchild of President Donald Trump, finished runner-up on Sunday, June 1, in the Major Championship at Village Golf Course in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
The Major Championship at Village Golf Course, which featured three flights of boys competition and a single, 12-golfer flight of girls competition, is considered a “major” event on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Participants earn more ranking points for a Top 10 finish.
Kai Trump shot a first-round 74 (2-over) and a second round 80 (8-over) to finish 10-over par and a stroke behind tournament winner Bretton Mackiewicz, a Jacksonville University women’s golf signee from Longwood, Florida.
“Not the result I wanted but happy with the progress I’ve been making,” Kai Trump posted to her golf-oriented Instagram page after the event. “Let’s get back to work.”
Kai Trump, a University of Miami women’s golf commit, returned to junior competition after struggling in two appearances at American Junior Golf Association invitational events earlier this year.
She shot 52-over par and finished last in a field of 24 golfers at the prestigious Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March 2025, a tournament which pitted Kai Trump against some of the world’s top girls junior golfers on a course with elite conditions.
Kai Trump was an All-County selection for Benjamin in fall 2025 and finished her junior year as the No. 151 ranked girls varsity golfer in Florida.
