The San Francisco 49ers have suffered a number of injuries already with the start of the 2026 regular season a month away.
The list continues to grow as Niners players drop out of training camp practices with little nicks, dings and bruises. Some are minor injuries and are otherwise nothing to overreact to, while others appear to be more severe and cause for concern.

The 49ers injury list has grown to include wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was ruled out for the season for PCL surgery. Tight end George Kittle is recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the NFC wild-card game against Philadelphia Eagles in January. Nick Bosa missed the majority of the 2025 season after an ACL tear in Week 3.
Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan did provide an update for Bosa following practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
“Just soreness, tendonitis. It’s a pretty normal thing with ACLs,” Shanahan said. “Just talking to our guys, they say it happens to about 90 percent of the guys we’ve had. So, it’s a normal thing. We’ve got to be smart here for week-to-week, but no concerns about it being any more than that.”
But although key players are focused on their return, still, the Niners focus has to be staying healthy. The number of players nursing injuries has grew to at least 20, although not all are major.

Some people will point to the viral online theory of the electrical substation that watches over the Niners’ practice and neighbors their games. But not everyone buys into that premise.
“They had 20 guys not practicing one day,” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said on an appearance on the The Pat McAfee Show. “I don’t think it’s the electrical substation like everybody else.”
“It does feel like a lot of big-brained people are scared to admit it,” McAfee responded. “Potentially to start all this internet fodder but when [49ers general manager] John Lynch comes out and goes ‘we’re definitely going to look into it’ … we’re all kind of watching what goes on. Maybe they just have the worst luck in history or maybe the thing that we all seen the entire time. … The substation’s got its own thoughts and its own Twitter account now.”
