Report: Readily available Colts QB reports for voluntary offseason workouts

Subject to potential trade negotiations, after his representation and him were given permission to seek out a trade earlier this offseason, Richardson Sr. had missed the last two weeks of voluntary offseason workouts.

Both Richardson Sr. and Colts veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II had previously withheld from participating, after both had requested trades from Indianapolis.

For what it’s worth, Richardson had been working out with his athletic trainers down in Jacksonville, which is close to his hometown and where he played quarterback for the University of Florida down in Gainesville, Florida. He had previously conducted his shoulder rehab down in Jacksonville two offseasons ago.

However, no trade has since come to fruition that has compelled the Colts to move Richardson Sr., and if you believe longtime Indianapolis general manager Chris Ballard, nothing appears rather imminent right now.

Those odds may have been further diminished by the recent quarterback run in the NFL Draft, where a number of potential interested suitors, who may have been otherwise eyeing Richardson Sr., took rookie quarterbacks relatively early on in ‘Day 1’ and ‘Day 2’ instead—including the Los Angeles Rams.

If there’s one obvious suitor that may still be interested in Richardson, it could be the Green Bay Packers, who have a quarterback minded head coach Matt LaFleur, and have a relatively thin quarterback room behind starter Jordan Love with just backups such as the well-traveled Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord.

With no deal in sight in Indianapolis, it makes sense for Richardson to report to the team, and not diminish his trade value further, and who knows, with re-signed starter Daniel Jones still recovering from a torn Achilles, maybe an unexpected opportunity could eventually arise atop the team’s quarterback depth chart again.
