PGA Tour Reacts to Scottie Scheffler's Second Round at BMW Championship originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The second round of the BMW Championship wrapped up on Friday evening, and World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler is in position to contend for another PGA Tour victory.
Scheffler notched a bogey-free 65 in his second round at Caves Valley Golf Club, putting him at 9-under for the championship and five shots behind tournament leader Robert MacIntyre (14-under) heading into the weekend. Scheffler's five-birdie performance on Friday was enough to secure a spot in the final pairing on moving day.
Scheffler had a hot start on Friday, birdieing three of his first five holes. He kept the heat on after the turn, notching back-to-back birdies on No. 11 and No. 12.
Scheffler found himself in trouble on No. 18 after pulling his drive into the deep left rough. Despite this adversity, he reached the green in regulation and two-putted for par to close the round
The PGA Tour shared Scheffler's performance with a post on social media.
"A bogey-free 65 puts Scottie Scheffler in the final group heading into the weekend," the league wrote on X.

"Bogey-free is always nice," Scheffler said after the round. "I would have liked to have gotten a couple better looks down the stretch, but didn't hit as many fairways the last few holes, and out here with the way the holes are shaped, you've got to be in play. Did a good job of saving pars when I needed to on the back."
Scheffler and MacIntyre will tee off at 1:45 p.m. ET on Saturday.
