Julian Champagnie has been with the Spurs now for just over three seasons. This summer he signed a 3-year/$45M contract that should keep the 3-point assassin decked out in Silver & Black for the foreseeable future. Never one to shy away from the community aspect of the Spurs Organization, Champagnie made a surprise visit to USAA recently to spend some time with families who have lost a parent serving in the military.
During his presser, he expressed his interest in playing with the Spurs for the rest of his career.

Sure, every player is semi-required to say that where they are is where they always want to be, but considering the mutual respect between Champagnie and the Spurs, this makes sense. He was pulled off waivers two days after being released by the Philadelphia 76ers while they cleared a roster spot for Mac McClung. The Sixers got a Dunk Contest winner and the Spurs added a key piece to their team. Champagnie has not only been one of the best shooters in for the franchise, his rebounding has become an essential element of the Spurs defense.
