The New England Patriots made their second move of the legal tampering window, and it’s one that will leave true football sickos excited: fullback Reggie Gilliam is coming aboard on a reported three-year, $12 million deal.
Let’s put a grade on the signing based on everything we know so far.

Instant grades: Patriots sign FB Reggie Gilliam
Brian Hines: The Patriots badly needed run blocking upgrades at fullback and tight end, and get their fullback upgrade with Reggie Gilliam, who was one of the best run blockers among all skill players last season. He’s also more versatile than their typical fullbacks under Josh McDaniels. | Grade: A-
Matt St. Jean: The Patriots did not get high quality play at fullback last season. Gillian is one of the top fullbacks in the league, as evidenced by a top of the market deal for the position. New England needed better run blocking than it got last year, and Gillian will help that. | Grade: B-
Pat Lane: The Patriots needed a real fullback, and they got a good one in Gilliam. This offense needs a true blocking fullback, so this is a great deal for the Patriots. It’s an added bonus that they got to take him away from Buffalo as well. | Grade: B+
