Did you know that part of an Indianapolis golf course is inside the giant race track that hosts the Indy 500?
The golf course is called Brickyard Crossings and four of the 18 holes are inside the massive two-and-a-half mile track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
IMS is hosting the spectacle once again on this Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and 250,000 fans have crammed into the venue once again for the 109th Indy 500.
The Brickyard was once a 27-hole complex with a nine-hole course located inside the track. In 1991, the complex closed when Pete Dye was called in to redesign the layout which reduced it to 18 holes. It reopened in 1993 with holes 7 through 10 located inside the famed oval. The track’s grandstands serve as a backdrop for several other holes.
The LPGA held three tournaments there, the last coming in 2019.
