Wide receiver George Pickens will play for the Cowboys this season. He will play on the $27.3 million franchise tag for 2026.

He is at the team’s mandatory minicamp to avoid a $107,911 fine for missing all three days, and he will participate in training camp.

All of that was decided once Pickens signed the franchise tag on April 29, and after the Cowboys announced they would not negotiate on a long-term deal with the Pro Bowler and had no plans to trade him.

“It’s football first, you see what I mean?” Pickens said Tuesday, via Abby Jones of DLLS Sports. “So definitely play football first, kind of like I did last year, and then worry about, well, let my agent worry about [contract] talk[s].”

Pickens said he did not participate in the voluntary offseason program on the advice of his agent, David Mulugheta.

He is participating in the minicamp this week on a limited basis.

Pickens will need another season like last season to potentially become one of — if not the — highest-paid at his position. He earned his first Pro Bowl in his first season in Dallas in 2025, making 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns.

He insisted Tuesday that he is not disappointed that his long-term deal won’t happen this offseason.

“What’s important to me is winning,” Pickens said, via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com. “Like I said from the beginning, I always want to bring a Super Bowl to a group of guys that never had that feeling. That’s really the most important part to me.”
