Florida State women’s golf coach Amy Bond points to an important balance when chasing winning. She wants her team to embrace pressure. And to enjoy and learn from every moment.

“The expectations increase as the weeks go by,” Bond said.

“The more times we put ourselves under pressure, the better it’s going to be in the long run. But we’ve also learned if we get too far ahead, we miss out on opportunities to get better.”

The sixth-ranked Seminoles are coming off a historic streak as they close out the regular season in their lone home match starting Friday in the highly popular and competitive Florida State Match Up.

The three-day tourney at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club features 13 teams and serves as a homecoming for two former FSU players in Missouri coach Caroline Westrup and Houston coach Lydia Gumm.

Westrup was the first four-time All-American in program history and returns to FSU for the first time since she was inducted into the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019. Gumm was a two-time All-ACC selection and played in a school record 131 career rounds.

FSU women’s golf looks to build momentum heading into postseason

For Bond and the Seminoles, however, the Florida State Match Up provides another chance to build on this season’s successes.

FSU won a school record four consecutive tournaments and features two of the top-three amateur players in the world in No. 1 Lottie Woad and No. 3 Mirabel Ting.

Bond’s lineup has also featured a blend of experience and youth in senior Kaylah Williams and freshmen Alexandra Gazzoli, Sophia Fullbrook, and Layla Pedrique.

Ting (four), also the nation’s No. 1 ranked collegiate player, and Woad (one) have combined for five individual wins and FSU’s lineup boasts 15 top-10 finishes this season.

FSU’s quest for its fifth consecutive tourney title ended in last weekend’s Second Annual Old Barnwell Match Play Championship Derby in South Carolina. The Seminoles finished the competition with victories over Mississippi State and Virginia and a loss to Wake Forest.

Woad, Gazzoli, Fullbrook, and Ting all won two individual matches during the three-match event . Woad (2-0-1) and Gazzoli (2-0) both finished undefeated.

FSU became the first NCAA team since the 2022-23 Sacramento State Hornets to win four consecutive team championships with victories at the 2024 Landfall Tradition, the 2025 Collegiate Invitational, the 2025 Moon Invitational, and the 2025 Briars Creek Invitational.

The Seminoles are the 16th team in NCAA women’s golf history to win four consecutive tournament titles.

Play in the Florida State Matchup starts at 8:45 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free on each of the three days.

The four-day ACC Women’s Championships is scheduled for April 16-19 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
