UFC CEO Dana White provided fight fans and members of the press with an update on hte status of Conor McGregor and his return to the Octagon. McGregor has been out of action since 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier.

“It’s looking good,” White said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Once we get a deal done with him, we’ll announce it.”

McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, has not won a fight with the UFC since 2020 when he finished Donald Cerrone. He lost to Poirier in January 2021 and again in July of that year after suffering a gruesome injury.

The resume for “Notorious” stands out above many, many others, as it includes wins over Poirier, Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Nate Diaz and Eddie Alvarez. However, he struggled when matched up with Khabib Nurmagomedov, was submitted by Diaz and had the back-to-back losses to Poirier.

McGregor took to social media recently to tell fight fans that, “I’m coming back to do what I do. Knock people out for money.”
