With all six competing golfers placing inside the top 20 for the second consecutive event, the Kernels came home in second place as a team with a season-best score of 312 at the Hub City Invitational at Lee Park Golf Course, hosted by Aberdeen Central.

Bouncing back from a tough round on Tuesday at the Pierre Invitational, Maddie Childs carded four birdies on the day to lead the Kernels with a third-place finish after a round of 2-over 73. Mia Larson and Anna Eliason posted top-10 results, with Larson finishing in seventh following a 6-over 77 and Eliason posting an 80 to come in 10th.

The hosting Golden Eagles swept the competitions for the second time in as many events, posting a cumulative score of 295 en route to the team championship. Individually, Olivia Braun was victorious after firing a 1-under 70, aided by three birdies and an eagle on Lee Park’s par-71 layout.

Aberdeen Central golfers occupied three of the top-four positions, with Kyley Wirebaugh finishing in second with a 2-over 73 and Emma Dohrer coming in fourth behind Childs after a 3-over 74. Watertown’s Gabi Olson completed a round of 5-over 76 to finish in fifth.
