Playing steady golf in a steady drizzle, Chris Fieger Sr. captured his first Berks Amateur Championship on Saturday with a two-round score of 141 at Heidelberg Country Club.

Playing on his home course, Fieger shot 70 on Friday and 71 on Saturday, putting him one over par for the two-day event.

Fieger carded five birdies, four bogies and a single double bogey for the 36 holes.

Josh Anderson, the two-time defending champion, and Brian Golembiewski tied for second at 147. Both players birdied the 18th hole.

The 93rd playing of the championship was sponsored by InHome Oxygen and Medical Equipment.

In the Stableford points flight of the tournament, Bobby Hissinger of Willow Hollow Golf Course won the by a single point over Joel Lampley, 54 points to 53.

Standing on the final tee, Hissinger trailed by a point. Hissinger got his ball up and down for a par on 18, good for two points. When Lampley missed his try for bogey, the championship went to Hissinger.

Players earned one point for a bogey, two for a par, three for a birdie and four for an eagle.

The next BCGA event is the Partners Championship, July 12-13 at Reading Country Club.
