Ahead of their undisputed super-middleweight championship clash on September 13th in Las Vegas, both Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) answered the same question during a recent presser when asked what their most meaningful fight has been in boxing.

The Mexican is a four-weight world champion who has shared the ring with Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, and Dmitry Bivol, to name just a few.

The unbeaten American, known as ‘Bud’, has also beaten Amir Khan, as well as Kell Brook, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence Jr., and Israil Madrimov.

37-year-old Crawford took to the mic first to reveal his answer, “I would say the most meaningful fight for me was becoming a world champion, but, in the fans’ eyes, my biggest moment was against Errol Spence.”

Crawford first became a world champion in Scotland, over 11 years ago in 2014, by defeating Ricky Burns by unanimous decision to win the WBO lightweight belt.

The Nebraskan went on to win world titles in three more weight classes, becoming undisputed at super-lightweight in 2017, then he became undisputed again at welterweight when he stopped Errol Spence Jr. in nine rounds in his 40th fight in 2023.

In doing so, Crawford became the first male boxer in history to become an undisputed champion in two weight classes in the four-belt era.

Canelo then took his turn to share his most meaningful moment, “For me, I got many, but I think, with Triple G is one of my biggest.”

The 34-year-old megastar fought three epic fights with the Kazakh, firstly sharing the honours in a draw in 2017, then Canelo just edged the win exactly one year later, minus a day, in the rematch. Their trilogy decider came five years later in 2022, which Canelo won clearly.
