Big Scottie Scheffler News Emerges Before U.S. Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The 2025 U.S. Open is set to tee off early Thursday morning from Oakmont, Pennsylvania. As preparations ramp up for the third major of the year, Tuesday brought a big announcement that has golf fans buzzing.

The USGA revealed tee times and pairings for the tournament, including those for the world’s top-ranked player, Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler is chasing his third leg of a Career Grand Slam, with only the Open Championship left to conquer.

The U.S. Open’s social media team posted the pairings Tuesday morning, confirming Scheffler’s group.

“Tee times for Thursday and Friday at Oakmont.”

Scheffler will be paired with Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland. The trio tees off from No. 1 at 1:25 p.m. EST on Thursday, then returns Friday morning at 7:40 a.m. EST.

Scheffler, a Ridgewood, New Jersey native, is on an incredible run and widely regarded as the most dominant ball-striker since Tiger Woods. Earlier this month, he defended his title at the Memorial Tournament, beating Ben Griffin by four strokes.

In May, Scheffler claimed the PGA Championship title with a five-shot victory over Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley. He’s made the cut in 12 straight major championships, with his last miss coming at the 2022 PGA Championship.

Morikawa, 28, is no stranger to major success. The former Cal-Berkeley star has two major wins and seven professional victories since turning pro in 2019. He reached as high as No. 2 in the world rankings in October 2021.

Hovland, 27, is still seeking his first major title. The Oklahoma State alum has seven PGA Tour wins and came closest at the 2023 PGA Championship, where he tied for second. That same year, he capped off his season with wins at the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup, becoming the third-youngest player to win the FedEx Cup. Earlier this season, he added a win at the Valspar Championship, edging the field by one stroke.

Scheffler’s pairing with Morikawa and Hovland adds extra excitement to an already stacked field. All eyes will be on Oakmont as the chase for the U.S. Open title begins early Thursday morning.
