On a day where the course played particularly difficult, even for the state’s best players, Orono’s Ava Hanneman tamed Bunker Hills en route to winning the Class 3A high school girls golf state title on Wednesday in Coon Rapids.

Hanneman shot the round of the day, posting a 2-under score of 70 to finish the event at 2-under par. The 2025 Ms. Minnesota Golf winner and Furman commit won the tournament by four strokes.

Her previous best finish in state was a third-place performance last spring.

The other three under-par performances on Wednesday came from St. Michael-Albertville’s Abigail Labrador, who finished in a tie for second, along with Benilde-St. Margaret’s Alyssa Raghuveer, and Two Rivers’ sophomore Briana Simek, who finished in fifth.

Forest Lake’s Bella Leonhart, who led after Round 1, finished in a tie for sixth.

Minnetonka won the team title, while Maple Grove was second. East Ridge finished fifth.

Class 2A

Pequot Lakes’ Genevieve Birkeland won the individual title by four shots over Hawley’s Sophie Cook as both shot 3-over rounds of 75 at Ridges of Sand Creek, while Detroit Lakes edged Minnewaska Area by one shot for the team title.

Totino-Grace and Holy Family Catholic tied for third place, while Hill-Murray came in fifth.

Class A

Dawson-Boyd’s Lindsey Lund shot a 2-over round of 74 — the round of the day by three strokes — Wednesday at Pebble Creek to secure a five-shot victory over Border West’s Paige Beyer.

Dawson-Boyd also won the team title.
