The average price of a new car is currently hovering around $50,000. That’s a significant amount of money for the average American. But if you are looking for a bargain, Kia has a pair of affordable alternatives—the 2027 Sportage and 2027 Niro.
Kia has announced pricing for both models, and they’re two of the brand’s cheapest crossovers, next to the entry-level Seltos. Sales for all three models are up for the year, with the Sportage remaining Kia’s best-selling model by a massive margin.
Thankfully, buyers heading to showrooms won’t get sticker shock. The 2027 Sportage starts at $30,485, while the Niro costs $31,385. Here’s the breakdown, including any changes Kia made.

The 2027 Kia Sportage is only $400 more expensive than the 2026 model. That includes a $300 increase in MSRP and an additional $100 for the destination charge.
Kia was only adding $1,395 to transport the crossover when the 2026 Sportage first went on sale, and at some point, the automaker raised it to $1,445. Now the destination sits at $1,495 for the 2027 model year.
The crossover is a carry-over model, with the only updates reserved for the Sportage X-Line trim. It now comes standard with the panoramic sunroof and smart power liftgate. Everything else is the same.
The 2027 Sportage is available in six trims: LX, EX, X-Line, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Pro. All-wheel drive is available on almost every trim and comes as standard on the X-Line and X-Pro.
The Sportage comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Kia also offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains in the crossover.
