A two-time Libertadores champion giant against a small team founded 20 years ago.
This was the backdrop for Maracanã vs Internacional, this Thursday (22), for the second leg of the third round of the Copa do Brasil.
But, as football is this wonderful sport, logic – almost always – is far away.
That’s because the goalkeeper Rair, only 26 years old, saved 2 penalties from Colorado and even “unsettled” the kicker on the third opportunity!
📹 Let’s go to the highlights!
Still in the first half, Alan Patrick – one of the best players in Brazilian football this season, number 10 and “band” of Inter – tried a dink, but Rair didn’t fall!
After the break, another penalty for Colorado. This time, it was Wesley who took it, but the Maracanã’s goalkeeper made another save!
Less than ten minutes later, another penalty for the team from Rio Grande do Sul.
Alan Patrick took the responsibility again, but goalkeeper Rair gave that “catimba” before the shot, saying something to the number 10.
Result, Alan Patrick shot hard, high, taking it well away from the rival goalkeeper, but ended up hitting the crossbar!
Even more so because, in the first game, at Beira-Rio, when Inter won 1 x 0, Rair also saved a penalty taken by Alan Patrick.
Social networks, of course, greatly echoed this more than unusual fact!
But the game was not just about the missed penalties!
With “ball rolling”, Inter beat Maracanã 3 x 0 and, with 4 x 0 on aggregate, qualified for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil 2025.
The next opponent will be known through a CBF draw.
Colorado returns to the field on Sunday (25), when it visits Sport, at Ilha do Retiro, for the tenth round of Brasileirão.
