Wyndham Clark had a highly-publicized moment of rage after missing the cut at last year’s U.S. Open, damaging his locker at Oakmont Country Club.
Clark was suspended from the historic golf venue. The following week, he issued a public apology for his actions.

Now as Clark prepares to take the course at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club for the 126th playing of the U.S. Open, he’s ready to put that Oakmont incident in the rearview mirror.
“Yeah, that was a really challenging time and something I’ve deeply regretted and feel awful that I did that. But there were so many good lessons in that that really taught me a bunch,” Clark said during a press conference on Monday.
“I’ve really come a long way, and I’m excited for this year’s Open for some redemption and to move forward and enjoy the challenges of Shinnecock and how great this place is and how amazing this championship is,” he continued.

Clark secured his lone major championship win at the U.S. Open in 2023, taking down Rory McIlroy by one stroke at Los Angeles Country Club. The 32-year-old American golfer enters this year’s edition of the major tournament in solid form, securing a victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and a third-place finish at the Memorial Tournament.
This past weekend, Clark finished T11 at the RBC Canadian Open.
