The 32-year-old produced a special round of 63 on Saturday at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley – a round that featured seven birdies and no bogeys.

Wyndham Clark has definitely rediscovered his very best form on the PGA Tour this season, and he has continued his fine play at the RBC Canadian Open this week.

Having returned to the winners’ circle three weeks ago, he is a man full of confidence once again.

Wyndham Clark explains why he bought a fan’s shirt at the Canadian Open

The 2023 US Open champion walked onto The Rink hole wearing a Jack Hughes USA ice hockey jersey.

The Canadian fans responded with boos as the atmosphere quickly switched into pantomime mode.

Clark went on to hit his tee shot to around four feet, before nonchalantly rolling in his birdie putt, while still wearing the ice hockey jersey.

And the 32-year-old responded when asked to explain how that all came about.

So I — gosh, it was maybe on Thursday, Thursday and we get up to the Rink and I’m like, Dang it, why didn’t we bring a USA hockey jersey? And I actually looked online to try to get one over-nighted, it was just too difficult so it didn’t happen, Clark said.

Yesterday on one of the holes I see a guy wearing a Jack Hughes USA jersey. So as I finished, I walk straight up to him and say, ‘Is there any way I could buy your jersey and wear it tomorrow?’

And he goes, ‘Hell yeah’.

So he met me after the round, paid for it, got his address, I’m going to ship it back to him. And then, yeah, then I wore it on the Rink hole, which obviously I got a ton of boos for.

I was doing it to more celebrate USA’s win, it had nothing against Canada, but I just thought in hockey country it would be kind of fun. I was very fortunate enough to make a birdie and at least do it in style.

Wyndham Clark reveals PGA Tour players’ reaction to his Rink Hole antics

The four-time PGA Tour winner told reporters after his third round about the reception he received from his fellow pros after what he did on the Rink Hole.

I was expecting boos, for sure, Clark admitted.

It was quite fun. I mean, they were all booing, and then I took it off, stuck it close, put it back on. They were booing me all the way up even right before I putted.

I was actually really nervous on that putt because if I miss that then it looks really bad. So I’m glad I birdied it.

I think some guys came up and said, You got stones, you know, that was pretty impressive. But, you know, yeah, it was all fun and games.

Fair play to Wyndham Clark for not only having a bit of fun with the fans at the RBC Canadian Open, but for actually producing the goods under pressure as well.
