Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has requested the club to sign Fiorentina’s Nicolò Fagioli this summer.
According to a report by Milannews.it, Allegri has been a huge admirer of the 25-year-old midfielder since his days with the Juventus youth side. The Rossoneri coach is now looking to bring Fagioli to the San Siro as part of a midfield overhaul.

Luka Modrić’s latest injury has made his future uncertain, although he is expected to be fit for the World Cup. Regardless of the Croatian maestro’s decision on his future, Milan will have to add to their engine room depth as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana seem to be on their way out this summer.
Fagioli is a name highly respected at Via Aldo Rossi, and Allegri is particularly pushing to bring him to his team. The Viola midfielder would be tempted to join his former coach, who gave him the chance to shine in the Serie A with the Bianconeri. Another factor that could play well for Milan in the race for his signature is that Fagioli considers Modrić as his idol, and would be more than ready to feature alongside him.
The only concrete competition that Allegri’s negotiators might face is from Fiorentina, where he currently plays. The Florence-based side see him as a midfield cornerstone, around whom they are looking to develop other players for the future. The potential deal could also be facilitated for Milan as the former Juventus youngster recently changed his agent to Giovanni Branchini, who manages Allegri.
Most of the factors play well for Milan in this pursuit, but everything resides on Fagioli’s decision following the end of the season.
