Wyndham Clark has enjoyed a fabulous season on the PGA Tour in 2026.
Clark has won three times, including a major championship and a FedEx Cup playoff event.
The 32-year-old American appears to be the frontrunner in the PGA Tour Player of the Year race, and that represents quite the turnaround from his struggles throughout the 2025 season.

However, despite all of his success in 2026, golf fans simply cannot warm to Wyndham Clark as a person.
Clark received all kinds of abuse from so-called fans during the US Open at Shinnecock Hills back in June.

Clark has been involved in some unsavory incidents on the PGA Tour throughout his career, especially in 2025 when his frustrations got the better of him on numerous occasions.
It’s fair to say that Clark is not one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour. However, certain LIV Golf players returning to the PGA Tour might just mean that he isn’t the main target for abuse from golf fans anymore.

Wyndham Clark could really benefit from LIV golfers returning to the PGA Tour
The future of LIV Golf is far from certain right now.
After Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced back in April that they would be withdrawing their funding from the league at the end of the current season, many of their big names have been linked with returns to the PGA Tour.
Players like Bryson DeChambeau, two-time major winner Jon Rahm, and Englishman Tyrrell Hatton have all been linked with PGA Tour returns.
Brooks Koepka has already made the switch, while Patrick Reed’s PGA Tour ban is set to expire this week.

And here’s why numerous different LIV players returning could be great news for Clark.

Finally, Clark may not be the biggest villain on the PGA Tour.
The likes of Reed, DeChambeau and Hatton returning having spent the past few years on LIV Golf will give golf fans other players to aim their jeers at.

Clark would no longer be the sole target of quite as much abuse from golf fans as he currently is.
Reed received a tough time from golf fans throughout his career on the PGA Tour.
Meanwhile, DeChambeau definitely has plenty of detractors, in spite of his huge popularity.
Hatton is another player who receives plenty of abuse from golf fans out in America.

In fairness to Wyndham Clark, he does seem to thrive when his back is against the wall and fans are giving him a tough time.
However, it will be interesting to see how he performs when he isn’t the only player receiving abuse from golf fans during tournaments.
