Oliver Kapanen had a solid first full NHL season for the Montreal Canadiens in 2025-26.
In 82 games with the Canadiens this past campaign, he posted 22 goals, 15 assists, and 37 points. With numbers like these, Kapanen provided the Canadiens with good secondary scoring and proved that he can make an impact in the NHL.

As well as Kapanen played last season, it is fair to wonder if he can break out further and be even better for Montreal in 2026-27.
When noting that Kapanen is only 23 years old and just 100 games into his NHL career, it is certainly fair to argue that he has not hit his ceiling yet. Now that he has a full NHL season on his resume, it would not be particularly surprising if he took his offense to another level next season.
If Kapanen can hit a new level offensively and continue to grow his all-around next game, it would be huge for the Canadiens. It is no secret that the Canadiens need help down the middle, and it would be clutch if Kapanen could provide them with more of a boost because of it.
Nevertheless, it will be fascinating to see what kind of season Kapanen can have for Montreal in 2026-27 from here.
