Kyle Larson survived a chaotic afternoon at World Wide Technology Raceway and emerged with the victory in Sunday’s Enjoy Illinois 300, winning the second race of NASCAR’s 2026 championship Chase.
And “survived” is an appropriate way to describe it.

The Sept. 13 race at Gateway featured 18 cautions, 87 caution laps and 11 lead changes before Larson finally took the checkered flag in overtime. The Hendrick Motorsports driver led 80 laps and beat teammate Alex Bowman to the finish by 0.333 seconds.
Pole winner Joey Logano finished third after leading a race-high 96 laps, while William Byron gave Hendrick Motorsports three cars inside the top four. Ross Chastain completed the top five.
It was a dramatically different afternoon for several championship contenders. Ryan Blaney finished 35th, Chase Briscoe 32nd and Chase Elliott 31st, while Tyler Reddick came home 25th.
