The checkered flag is out for the NASCAR Cup Series Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.

Chase Elliott won Sunday’s exhibition race from the pole for his first career win in the Clash. Elliott led 172 of the 200 laps in Sunday’s feature event, holding off Ryan Blaney, who went from 23rd on a provisional to second, in the final laps.

“I was afraid of losing control of the race and wouldn’t be able to get it back,” Elliott said. “Fortunately, I was able to (keep control) and that’s a great way to start the season.”
