It’s an unexpected rise to prominence for the 30-year-old. Herbert, a member of LIV Golf’s Ripper GC team, missed the cut in nine of his 17 major starts before this one, with his only top 25 being a 13th-place finish at the 2024 PGA Championship. He didn’t even make The Open cut a year ago.
