No. 12 Notre Dame is headed to Atlanta for an intriguing matchup with Georgia Tech. The Fighting Irish are riding a four-game winning streak, but the Yellow Jackets are looking to snap it and hand them a devastating loss.
Since their stunning upset at the hands of Northern Illinois, the Irish have managed to get back on track by string together four straight wins. The most recent of those victories was a 49-7 drubbing of Stanford last weekend. Quarterback Riley Leonard flashed his dual-threat ability again, totaling 260 yards and four touchdowns.
The Notre Dame defense was utterly stifling and held the Cardinal to just 200 yards of offense. Just 87 of those yards came through the air with Stanford quarterbacks Ashton Daniels and Justin Lamson completing 10 of their 18 passes and averaging a paltry 4.8 yards per attempt.
Georgia Tech has now scored ACC wins in back-to-back weekends, and the latest was a 41-34 defeat of North Carolina. Yellow Jackets running back Jamal Haynes torched the Tar Heels with 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Haynes has really found a groove lately with 298 yards in his last two outings.
After allowing 201 yards to North Carolina on the ground, Georgia Tech will have to get that cleaned up before facing a Notre Dame offense capable of burning teams with the run.
