The ever-growing Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open returns this week, bringing many of the world’s best women’s tennis players back to the Zayed Sports City International Tennis Centre.
Founded in 2021, this outdoor hard-court WTA 500 event has brought much attention to the world of women’s tennis. As a strong addition to the Gulf season, this tournament has drawn the sports’ biggest names, from Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina to Sofia Kenin and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
As such a new tournament, there are only two players who have claimed this title — Elena Rybakina and Belinda Bencic, who won in both 2023 and 2025. Bencic is returning to the court with hopes of defending her title as this year’s No. 1 seed.
