Lamont Roach vs. William Zepeda is on Saturday, August 1 in Las Vegas. The main card starts at 8 p.m. ET and the main event should begin around 11 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

A Golden Gloves gold medalist, Roach (25-1-3) failed to capture super featherweight gold in 2019, but won the WBA title in 2023. “The Reaper” has since had two fights for gold end in a draw, against Gervonta Davis (lightweight) and Isaac Cruz (interim super lightweight).

The 30-year-old Roach attempts for another title at lightweight, and this time, he’s ready to leave with his hand raised.

“Just being confident, trusting your instincts. I’ve been doing this for a long time, man, been in there with guys who can punch and guys who are strong,” Roach said via BoxingScene. “It’s been a long, 21-year journey, being in there with guys who are physically strong with either brute strength or knockout power.

“I just trust my instincts and do what I have to do, and I’d like to say I’m pretty good defensively, too. I’m confident I can take a shot – because I have – and I’m ready to give it right back, as you’ve seen.”

Winning interim lightweight gold against Tevin Farmer and beating him in the rematch, Zepeda (33-1) was the perfect test for Shakur Stevenson. The two battled it out in New York for the WBC title, with Stevenson winning via decision.

After more than a year away from the ring, the Mexican with 27 wins via knockout attempts to hold gold again.

“A lot of the fighters come with that plan [to box], but as soon as the fight starts, it’s overwhelming for them to deal with the volume of punches I throw. It completely throws off their plans, and I’m confident I can do that again,” Zepeda said via BoxingScene.
