Devin Haney vs. Jose Carlos Ramirez is on May 2  The main card starts at 5:30 p.m. Haney and Ramirez should make their way to the ring around 7:30 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

Haney (31-0) beat George Kambosos Jr. to become the undisputed lightweight champion. He moved in weight and beat Regis Prograis for super lightweight gold. The 26-year-old was on cloud nine until Ryan Garcia beat him last April, knocking him down several times. That loss turned into a no-contest after Garcia tested positive for ostarine.

Returning to action, Haney could face Garcia again if both fighters win in Times Square (Garcia faces Rolando Romero). Focused, Haney looks to return to form.

“Of course the big fight is Ryan Garcia, but I cannot look past Jose Ramirez,” Haney said. “I know that he is a tough competitor. I know that he is coming to win. To get to the Ryan fight, first we’ve got to beat Jose Ramirez, and that’s what I’m here to do.”

Ramirez (29-2) is a former WBC and WBO super lightweight champion. The two-time Junior Olympic National and Golden Gloves Champion failed to unify against Josh Taylor, and a recent three-fight win streak was snapped in November against Arnold Barboza Jr.

The 32-year-old looks to remind people who he is against the young Haney.

“People forget I’m a 2012 Olympian… I’m gonna go out there on May 2 and do what I have to do,” Ramirez said. “I know how much this fight means to me, to the team, and to my family. I know when I make my way to 147, I’m going to be a lot stronger and a lot faster. I’m healthier, and I’m feeling rejuvenated. I’m looking forward to making a statement on May 2nd.”
