A multi-time amateur gold medalist, Ruiz (35-2-1) is best known for beating Anthony Joshua in one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight history in 2019 to become the unified heavyweight champion. He’s only fought four times since, with his last fight in 2024, against Jarrell Miller, ending in a draw.
Looking healthier and reuniting with former trainer Manny Robles, Ruiz looks to stay active and return to his former glory.
“I want to become a two-time heavyweight champion so I’m gonna die trying… I owe it to me,” Ruiz said via The Ring. “I owe it to my fans in Mexico, I owe it to my family, and especially to God to continue that mission.”
Knyba (17-1) is coming off a loss against Agit Kabayel in January for interim heavyweight gold. The Polish fighter, known for competing throughout New York and New Jersey, has eleven knockout wins.
