Royal Birkdale Golf Club will again host the Open Championship, with Scottie Scheffler back to defend his title.

The 156-player field will feature 41 players making their British Open debut and 15 others who already have a Claret Jug in their trophy case. Royal Birkdale is hosting this tournament for the 11th time and for the first time since 2017. That number is one less than the hosting record, held by St. Andrews Golf Club in Scotland.

Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked player, is trying to become The Open’s first back-to-back winner since Padraig Harrington won at Royal Birkdale in 2008 after his victory the previous year at Carnoustie Golf Links.
