The Seattle Seahawks come into a new NFL season as reigning Super Bowl champions for a second time in franchise history, and reigning NFC kings for the fourth time. While all the attention has been heaped upon the Los Angeles Rams and their all-out push to usurp the Seahawks and win yet another Super Bowl in their own building, the Seahawks are still among the favorites to at least get back to the big game.
Repeating as champions under the modern NFL—we’re talking the existence of a salary cap and true free agency, which wasn’t a thing when the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers had their respective dynasties—is exceptionally difficult. The Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs have all pulled off consecutive titles, but no one from the NFC has had a dynastic run since the 1990s Dallas Cowboys.

Immediately following their previous three Super Bowl appearances, Seattle reached the NFC Divisional Round twice and obviously went right back to the Super Bowl during the 2014 season. That particular game no longer hurts me as much as it once did.
Anyway…
For this weekend’s discussion we want to know what you would consider to be a “failed” season for the 2026 Seahawks. Is it Super Bowl or bust? Is it at least making it back to the NFC Championship Game? There are fans across many NFL teams who see anything but a Super Bowl victory as a failure, which I won’t push back against but sometimes it stretches beyond what’s realistic. For the Seahawks, winning the Super Bowl again this year is going to be difficult yet it’s still realistic. Our collective expectations are heightened again after the fears of a bottoming out in 2022 and the general hope of just winning a singular playoff game in 2025.
