Jackson Koivun will head into the final round of the 3M Open on Sunday with a three-shot lead.
Scottie Scheffler is six back of Koivun with 18 holes left to play at the 3M Open.
The 21-year-old Auburn graduate was in sensational form on Saturday at TPC Twin Cities, firing a special round of 61.

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler posted a very impressive 64 on day three of the 3M Open after coming home in just 29 on his back nine.

However, Jackson Koivun is very much in pole position with just 18 holes left to play in Blaine, Minnesota.
It will be fascinating to see whether Scheffler is able to make up the six-shot deficit he faces heading into the final round.

Koivun admitted he is very much aware of Scheffler’s presence on the leaderboard with one round to play at the 3M Open.
The 30-year-old from Dallas, Texas, will be attempting to win the 21st PGA Tour title of his career.

It will only be natural for the 21-year-old to have the world number one on his mind as he plays the final round on Sunday.
However, it will be vitally important for Koivun to focus on himself and nothing else, if he is to win his first PGA Tour event in just his 13th start.
We all know that the young star has the talent and ability to contend on the PGA Tour, but whether he will be able to handle the heat of holding a three-shot lead heading into the final round at TPC Twin Cities remains to be seen.

Sunday at the 3M Open will not be Koivun’s first experience of having a chance to win a PGA Tour event with Scheffler in his rearview mirror.

The youngster from San Jose, California, entered the final round of the Procore Championship in Napa Valley back in September 2025 trailing the leader, Ben Griffin, by one stroke.

Koivun, who was still an amateur at the time, began the final round one stroke clear of Scheffler.
However, it was the world number one who emerged victorious after he shot a final-round 67 at the Silverado Resort.
Koivun posted a final-round 71 to end up in a tie for fourth.
That was still a mighty fine effort considering the fact that he was only 20 at the time.

Despite the fact that Koivun failed to win that week in Napa Valley, he would have been proud of his performance.
And more importantly, it would have been a valuable learning experience for him.
We will see on Sunday at the 3M Open whether Jackson Koivun is truly ready to win his very first PGA Tour event, as Scottie Scheffler tries to make up the six strokes that separate him and the 21-year-old.
